So Many Ways to Support our Pelion Community Garden!

The Pelion Community Garden at City Honors School would like to welcome everyone back for another fun, exciting, and educational year in the garden! Fifth and sixth grade classes have already begun their weekly garden science lessons and we look forward to engaging students of all ages and grade levels this season with our ever-expanding garden curriculum.

We wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the many easy ways you can help City Honors School and the Pelion Community Garden. The garden relies on grants, donations, and fundraising efforts like these to help keep us growing. If you have other fundraising ideas we might want to consider, please contact the Pelion lead parent volunteer, Molly Hutton, at mhutton6ik@mac.com. The following are all no-cost ways to help support garden programming:

Box Tops for Education: Please clip and send in your Box Tops to the main office or your child’s homeroom teacher! Each clipped Box Top is worth ten cents, and the dimes really add up if everyone participates! Click here to see a list of products, including natural and organic items, on which Box Tops for Education can be found here. You can also set up an online account at this link where you can enter monthly sweepstakes to help us earn extra Box Tops credit!

** We are looking for a new Box Tops for Education coordinator for City Honors School! Our current coordinator has been doing the job for the past several years and needs to pass on this task to another parent. It’s a fun and easy way to help us out! Please let us know below if you are interested!

TOPS in Education: Please register your TOPS BonusPlus card here and choose City Honors School at Fosdick-Masten Park as your chosen school to help us earn 5% back on many TOPS brand purchases. ** Remember** you must re-register your card every new school year!

Dash’s Market Tape Saver Program: Do you shop at Dash’s? Save your register receipts and send them in to the main office! The school earns $2.50 for every $100 in receipts that we submit.

‘Imagine It’ Small Electronics Recycling: Please bring us your out-of-date or obsolete cell phones, MP3 players, cameras, tablets, GPS devices, e-book readers, toner cartridges, etc. There is a drop off box located in the hallway outside the main office. For a list of accepted items click here. If you would like to host a satellite collection bin at your business or office location please let us know!

‘Bucks 4 Bottles’ Recycling: The Pelion Community Garden at City Honors has an ongoing account at the Bucks 4 Bottles location at Elmwood and Hertel Aves. Please bring in your aluminum cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles and tell the sorter to add the funds to the garden account!

Pelion Wish List: We keep an ongoing list of items that we would love to have donated. Click here for our list.
