Earth Day Cleanup in the CHS Neighborhood

Saturday, April 21 – 1-3 p.m.
Sunday, April 22 – 10- 12:30 p.m.

Pelion Garden at 206 Best Street

This is a TWO DAY option. You can come Saturday from 1-3pm or Sunday from 10am-12:30p. Join us as we spruce up around our neighborhood. We will collect refuse, rake a little, transplant some perennials, prune many of the shrubs, and possibly turn the soil, and repair raised beds damaged by the winter. No skills necessary. Bring your favorite sunhat & work gloves. It might be chilly–dress appropriately. If you have an extra weed wacker or wheel barrow, please get in touch with Pelion Garden Manager, Caesandra.

Pelion Fundraising Meeting

Tuesday, March 20 – 6:30 -8 p.m. – 279 Northampton St, Buffalo –

Pelion Garden has a goal of raising 12K each year to cover teaching, site management, tools, supplies, and community events. We are looking for various methods to secure this funding. We are open to specific suggestions for sponsorships, advocates, program grants, or corporate give-back opportunities.  We are also looking for folks willing to spearhead, or research, some of these new efforts and/or the ones we already do as some parents may be transitioning soon.
Please bring your ideas, contacts, and enthusiasm for outdoor classroom learning experiences. Thanks

Middle School Hockey
Sign ups for the Grade 5 & 6 JV and Gr 7 & 8 Varsity CHS/Olmsted Spring Ice Hockey teams are due before 2/26/18. All levels are welcome but all players must be registered with USA Hockey to play. Contact Monica Richards at mrrichards45@gmail.com to sign up for either team or to ask any questions.

The league plays at the Harbor Center, with games starting the week of March 12, 2018, and wrapping up before Memorial Day weekend. The coaches will run a practice session or two before the games begin, time and location to be announced. The cost is minimal and will be determined based on the number of players we have signed up for each team – so invite your friends to sign up – the more who play, the less you’ll pay!

*Tomorrow*, Friday, February 9th, City Honors students are asking the school community to donate $1.00 and dress in their favorite Buffalo Sports team attire. All proceeds will be donated to 2017 graduate Amber Conti and her family whom recently lost their home and family member to a tragic fire. We are encouraging students to dress in Buffalo-themed baseball caps, hoodies, tees, jerseys to help support this family in need. Student representatives will visit homerooms to collect donations for those wearing Buffalo sports gear.

Our fall/winter Box Tops for Education homeroom contest ends on February 16.  Students and fans will have turned in envelopes filled with Box Tops and we need to “process” them ALL before the deadline; otherwise, we miss out.

We need helpers to clip and sort several hundred Box Tops!

  • When:   Tuesday, February 20, 6-8 p.m.
  • Where:   279 Northampton St., Buffalo, 14208

Your assistance is GREATLY appreciated as each one equals 10 cents toward our school-garden funding.

Bring your favorite scissors!

The senior class has cancelled its pancake breakfast scheduled for January 28. Any tickets purchased can be returned to Mr. Howson for a full refund. The senior class extends its apologies for this cancellation.
