City Honors has been a partner with the Rotary Club of Buffalo for the past eleven years, helping countless incoming and outgoing students to learn through highly supportive international exchange experiences. This is the time of year when Rotary Buffalo is in recruitment mode for Youth Exchange programs for the year 2017-18.
The Rotary short term exchange program (6-8 weeks in the summer-underclassmen or seniors) is a direct family-family exchange program with participating partner countries. The Long Term Program (10-12 months- current seniors) takes place starting in the late summer of 2017.

An informational session will be held for senior parents at 5:00pm on October 25th in the Hilltop Museum prior to Senior Financial Aid Night which starts at 5:30pm.

There will be an informational session for any high school student interested in short or long term exchanges on Friday, October 21 during 5th period in The Hilltop Museum at CHS.

For those who already know they want to apply for a Rotary Exchange:

In efforts to simplify the process, we have installed an online application process for the PRELIMINARY APPLICATION. Any all applications will be received at a District level and distributed out to the corresponding club. The link to this application is available athttp://www.rotaryye7090.org/preliminary-application.
In terms of timelines, once the clubs receive the preliminary application they will set up a time to interview and select students. As soon as a Club chooses their candidate, they will notify the student that they are to immediately start to complete the LONG FORM APPLICATION (also located in the same tab on our website), and identify to the District their selected candidates by NO later than the beginning of December.
District interviews where further eligibility to the program is confirmed, will be conducted on the weekend of January 14th and 15th, 2017.
All information about the program is available at our website http://www.rotaryye7090.org Please contact CHS Parent and Rotary Buffalo representative, Jill Norton for questions at: jillnorton620@gmail.com

On Wednesday, October 26, 2016 the Anne Frank Project from Buffalo State College will present “Hello, my name is _____.” to our fifth and sixth grade students.

Inspired by the wisdom of Anne Frank, The Anne Frank Project (AFP) provides tools and vocabulary for conflict resolution, community building, and identity exploration in communities and schools world-wide.  We are excited to have AFP, who works locally, nationally, and internationally, provide this opportunity to our fifth and sixth grade students.

“Hello, my name is _____.”, is the story of a young girl named Alex, who lives in a future world where individual identity is forbidden, and conformity mandated.  A moment of inspiration launches her into a journey through mystical lands and dangerous obstacles.  Will Alex brave the unknown to claim her identity or will she surrender to the status quo?  Alex learns she must embrace her struggles in order to celebrate her Self.  An Interactive workshop immediately follows the performance focusing on identify exploration, peer pressure, and social conformity.

The students will engage in powerful and impactful conversations that will ask them to practice the skills and vocabulary they experienced in the play, while encouraging them to tell their stories and build community.  Students will even have an opportunity to do some acting!

If you have any concerns or ask that your child not participate please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.
