Debra Frederiksen

Ms. Taggart and Ms. Krawczyk, currently part of the CHS clerical team, will have their final day with us on Friday, October 11. Both recently tested, scored highly and received promotions to permanent clerk. Their promotions require that both of them to leave our building in order to accept these promotions.

Congratulations to both of them and a HUGE thank you for their dedicated service to our school and students. Neither one of them was content just to ‘do the work’. They were truly committed to the mission of the school and the wellbeing of our students. They will be truly missed.

If you have a chance between now and October 11, please drop them a ‘thank you’ for what they have done for our school community.

Lydia Ortiz will be joining Ms. Maracle in the main office as a new Permanent School Clerk. Carolyn Inwood will be joining our school clerical staff as the new Permanent Typist working out of the school counseling office. Both are scheduled to start with us on October 15, 2019. Please provide them with a warm welcome at this time.

After a record number of CHS students qualified for the State Championship for Speech & Debate this year in New York City, we had the most students ever to advance to Day 2 of the quarterfinals.
Highlights included:

  • In his 1st state tournament ever, freshmen Roman Rogalski finished among the top 24 debaters in his category.
  • Sophomore Ella Kaderbeck was also among the best to qualify for Day 2 in her speech category.
  • Joining Ella and advancing in Oral Interpretation was senior Alexis Marshall!
  • After going nearly perfect with a 4-1 debate record on Saturday, senior Gabby Merlo lost a close debate to the eventual state finalist on Day 2.

Congratulations to all 23 students who qualified to attend the state championships and to all the members of the team for an unprecedented year of success at tournaments throughout the year.
